The iPhone 4 Launch Statistics are AstoundingThe sales figures for the iPhone 4 sales have been released with over 1.5 million sales on the first day. A total of 600,000 of the phones were pre-ordered in the United States. 100,000 of the phones were sold at the Apple stores on the day of release and 50,000 of them were released into Best Buy stores the same day. The total in the US (750,000) is then released in the UK with equal sales and pre-sales for a total of over 1.5 million units moved.

About 76 percent of the purchases were upgrades from a previous iPhone model. 14 percent of the sales reported that they were going to purchase an iPad in the next few months by being pleased with Apple products. 21 percent of the purchases of the phone were switching to the AT&T service from other networks just for the iPhone 4. The main driving force for the amazing sales is a mix of variables that appeal to both old and new users of the iPhone family of products.

The features of the iPhone are redesigned and offer much more potential for use in Apps and other important reasons. The App store and easy connection to services such as iTunes makes the phone very simple to use with little trouble. AT&T offered early upgrades for the iPhone 4 which also provided many people to want to go ahead and do so while it was available. These are all reasons why the iPhone sales have been so great.

There is a lot of speculation on whether or not if Apple had been able to have more units available for launch if they could have sold more. In my opinion it is very likely, people were still lining up for the relaunch by AT&T because they were unable to have phones in stock.

I know for a fact my local AT&T store couldn’t get even the pre-orders in, I went by there at around 9AM (they had been open since 7AM) and they hadn’t received a single iPhone 4 that day – and only one the day before. Luckily I was the only one at Walmart, and I got the only iPhone 4.

Apple definitely has a hot item on their hands, but Android is catching up quickly, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out by the end of 2010.
