Verizon To Offer $99 Unlimited Everything Plan?
Sprint turned heads back in February when they offered a $99 plan that included unlimited voice, data, and texting. At that time, AT&T and Verizon were offering $99 plans that just provided unlimited voice, and T-Mobile was offering voice and SMS for $99. That made Sprint’s $99 plan an incredible value for new customers. It seems like Verizon may not be content to sit back and lose customers to Sprint anymore, as they are testing out an all inclusive $99 plan of their own.
Verizon is test marketing a $69 plan that provides unlimited voice and texting. Couple that with a $30 unlimited data plan, and you have an all you can eat phone buffet for just $99 a month. Currently the plan is only available in San Diego and Los Angles retail outlets, and there are no guarantees that it will go nationwide. Right now it’s just a test. Presumably, Verizon wants to see exactly what the plan does for sales before introducing it on a nationwide level.
While there is no official word about Verizon’s plans to make the $99 all you can eat plan available nationwide, it’s a pretty safe bet that they will. The four major US carriers tend to match each other’s offerings fairly closely, and it’s honestly a little surprising to see Verizon wait this long to match Sprint’s price point for an unlimited everything plan. Usually when one carrier offers a new service or rate plan, it’s only a matter of a couple of months before the others start to jump on board.
You might remember that AT%T removed their unlimited data plan a few months back. Since then, countless rumors have circulated regarding Verizon, and the possibility that they’d follow suit. While they haven’t done so yet, all rumors and leaks from inside sources seem to point to it just being a matter of time before they do. This actually seems to line up directly with the rumors about the all you can eat $99 package. Verizon is test marketing a $69 unlimited voice and text plan with a $30 unlimited data add on. By the time the plan goes nationwide, it could be a $30 2GB data package. No one knows for sure at this point if Verizon will start capping their data plans, or if they’ll even start offering the unlimited package everywhere, but if the rumor mill is to be believed, both will be happening soon.
