On July 20th, Apple announced their earnings for the third quarter of fiscal 2010. Apple posted a record breaking revenue of $15.7 billion with a net profit of $3.25 billion. Apple sold 3.47 million Macs, 8.4 million iPhones, and 9.41 million iPods during the third quarter.
“It was a phenomenal quarter that exceeded our expectations all around, including the most successful product launch in Apple’s history with iPhone 4,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. The sales figures for the iPhone 4 sales have been released with over 1.5 million sales on the first day. A total of 600,000 of the phones were pre-ordered in the United States. 100,000 of the phones were sold at the Apple stores on the day of release and 50,000 of them were released into Best Buy stores the same day. The total in the US (750,000) is then released in the UK with equal sales and pre-sales for a total of over 1.5 million units moved.
